Legendary drummer/singer/heartbeat of The Band, Levon Helm, returns to the stage in support of his first solo studio recording in a quarter century, Dirt Farmer, at the Beacon Theatre.
In a career ravaged by heart-break and illness, the singer only regained his singing voice a few years ago after throat cancer damaged his once clear and powerful tenor voice. With his vocalist/musician daughter Amy providing the initial impetus, Levon restored his confidence in his singing voice during shows by his informal group the Barn Burners.
