Top Of The Rocks - Rockefeller Plaza
May 20th 2008 03:05
One of the best ways to discover New York is from the 'Top Of The Rock' observation deck at the top of the famous Rockefeller Plaza.
Split into three levels - the first of which is enclosed - with two open-air terraces the third level (70th floor) has a majestic and unobstructed 360 degree view of New York City and beyond. The observation deck has a surface area of 55,000 square-feet (5,110 m2) and the upper decks are 850 feet (260 m) above the street level.
First opened in 1933, the observation deck was originally designed to evoke the upper decks of a 1930s grand ocean liner. Anytime is a good time to visit with dusk proving the most popular time for couples.
